Educator Card

An Educator Card allows easy access to Library materials for educators to use in their classrooms. This card is available to anyone who teaches or works with students in a Pre-K-12 school, licensed childcare center, or homeschool setting. To sign up for an Educator Card, bring a current photo ID, proof of current address (if address on ID is not current), and proof of educator status to any of our 19 Library locations.

Test Administration

The Library provides test administration services free of charge. Library employees will administer tests and examinations only according to the following guidelines and associated procedures. Educators Lab

The Educators Lab is housed in the Children’s Library at Main Library. The Lab houses equipment for use by Teachers, Childcare Providers, Home School Families, and Education Students to create learning materials and other items.

STEM and Educational Kits

Each kit includes educational materials for a variety of ages, for example, felt board stories and rhymes, musical instruments, parachutes, snap circuits, and building kits. These materials are within our Library of Things collection.

Books in Boxes

Each Books in Boxes set consists of 35 copies of one title, packed in a box and checked out as a unit. These sets are perfect for teachers, who would like multiple copies of the same book so that each student may have their own book to read independently.

Teen Classroom Sets

Check out classroom sets of 35 books for use in your classroom. Titles are age-appropriate for students in grades 6-12. Sets are bookable and may be borrowed for up to 6 weeks.

Local History Resources

Our collections include many primary and secondary resources for students and teachers who are planning lessons related to our community’s history.

Big Picture Books

These oversized picture books are great read-a-louds when sharing stories with children in group settings.

Booklists

Your librarians have compiled bibliographies PDFs that can be downloaded and printed to share with your students.

Dial-A-Story

Dial-A-Story offers free pre-recorded stories, poems, riddles, and jokes read by your favorite ASCPL Staff. Call 234.274.4400 and choose the recording you would like to hear from the menu.

TechZone

Public access computers and the Library’s makerspace are on the Main Library’s 1st floor in the TechZone. TechZone includes a laser engraver, vinyl printer, recording studios, and much more.

Research Tools & Homework Help

Databases

Databases are digital collections of newspaper and magazine articles, books, and journals that offer reputable information on a variety of topics. These resources can be used for homework assignments, writing papers, and exploring interests.

 

Tutor.com

Free online tutoring is available for students of all ages. Connect virtually with a real person to get homework help, submit a paper for review and editing help, or access ACT and SAT study guides and practice tests. Available 12 pm-12 am daily.

Discover thousands of e-books, digital magazines, and digital audiobooks for all ages.

Hoopla

Gain access to e-books, digital audiobooks, television shows, movies, and digital comics through Hoopla.

Kanopy Kids provides access to popular and award-winning content for children.
