City directories are excellent sources of information about Akron and the surrounding area. Many directories include statistical information about the city, as well as a classified business section and information about clubs, organizations, and churches. Listings for residents generally include the resident’s occupation and spouse’s name, while listings for businesses often provide the names of owners or corporate officers. The street directory section found in most city directories lists residents and businesses by address.
