Calling All Teen Writers!

Would you like a chance to share your original story or poem with the world? If so, enter the Akron-Summit Country Public Library’s Teen Creative Writing Contest! All topics and ideas are welcome. A team of librarian judges will choose three winners to receive a $50 Amazon gift card and a bound copy of the Teen Creative Writing Contest Collection. All authors who submit acceptable entries will also receive a digital copy of the collection.

Rules

1. All entries must be the original work of the submitter.
2. Submitters must be in grades 6-12 in the 2025-2026 school year.
3. There is a limit of 2 entries per submitter.
4. Entries are due by February 28, 2026.
5. Entries should be no longer than 20 pages.
6. All works longer than two pages must be typed in a Microsoft Word or Google document and submitted electronically via email or the Akron Library website. (When using Google Docs, please give the library staff permission to view your work.)
7. All hand-written entries must be printed and legible.
8. All entries will be included in the Akron-Summit County Public Library Creative Writing Contest Collection at the discretion of library staff. Each submitter with an acceptable entry will receive a complimentary copy in a digital book format. Entries will not be returned, so make a copy!
9. Three entries will be selected as “Judge’s Choice” award winners. These authors will receive a $50 Amazon gift card and a bound copy of the collection.
10. All paper and electronic entries must contain the information on the submission form below.
11. We will only accept entries from Ohio residents.

*It usually takes several weeks for all of the entries to be typed, edited and put into the collection.
