[Akron, Ohio] — The Akron-Summit County Public Library (ASCPL) invites fans of comics, anime, gaming, sci-fi, fantasy, cosplay, and pop culture to GeekFest 2026 on Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Main Library in downtown Akron. This free, all-ages celebration offers a full day of entertainment, interactive experiences, and opportunities for fans of all ages to connect through their favorite fandoms.

This annual tradition transforms the Main Library into a hub of creativity and imagination. Visitors can enjoy cosplay, tabletop and video gaming, artist and vendor exhibits, panel discussions, hands-on activities, photo opportunities, and family-friendly entertainment throughout the day. Whether attendees are lifelong enthusiasts or discovering a new interest, GeekFest offers something for everyone.

One of the day's featured events is the GeekFest Cosplay Contest, where participants ages 12 and older can showcase their craftsmanship and creativity in Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Group categories. An all-ages Cosplay Parade will also give attendees the chance to show off their costumes and celebrate the creativity of the cosplay community.

"GeekFest reflects the Library's commitment to creating welcoming spaces where people can explore their interests, discover new ideas, and connect with others," said Kelly Chaplin, Assistant Coordinator, Youth Services "From gaming and graphic novels to cosplay and maker culture, GeekFest celebrates the many ways our community learns, creates, and has fun together."

Admission is free, and many activities do not require registration. Those interested in participating in the Cosplay Contest are encouraged to register in advance. Online registration closes Thursday, Aug. 6, at 5 p.m., with limited day-of registration available until 1 p.m. on the day of the event.
