Donor support of the Library’s Endowment Fund at the Akron Community Foundation helps individuals and families in our community access the essential library services, programs, and resources they need to make their lives easier and better.

This additional financial support, through end-of-year giving, allows the Library to continue to offer opportunities for people to connect, create, explore, and learn.

Monica, a mother who lives near our Maple Valley Branch, brings her children to the library nearly every Saturday. She told us that these outings are her favorite part of the week. The visits help her have fun with her children without breaking the bank. The children enjoy the library events and take home stacks of books each time they visit.

Doug uses our North Hill Branch and had issues with his mobility, limiting his library use. Hilary, a librarian, shared information about the Library Express Delivery Service with him and offered a service where he could call the library to request holds and have them brought to him in his car. Doug was grateful for inclusive and equal access to library services.

William was having trouble registering online for unemployment benefits. Tori, the manager at our Norton Branch, came to the rescue. It was an involved process, but William and Tori were determined. She went back and forth from the service desk to the public computer off and on for an hour, and they got it done. William was very grateful, but she told him he did it all himself; he just needed her reassurance.

Every day, the Akron-Summit County Public Library staff is here for people like Monica, Doug, and William and for everyone who walks through our doors. If you would like to help the Library continue to expand its services while also meeting the changing needs of our community, consider donating to the Library’s Endowment Fund at the Akron Community Foundation. Our goal is to raise $60,000 during this end-of-year campaign, which will provide much-needed annual support for essential Library services, programs, and resources. Your gift ensures that the Library will be there for you and our entire community, now and for generations to come.
