Duties & Responsibilities:

The ASCPL is hiring a Technology Trainer to support our Mission Statement to provide resources for learning and leisure, information services, meeting spaces, and programs for all ages that support, improve, and enrich individual, family, and community life.  This role helps our customers learn new skills that help them grow personally and professionally.

The Technology Trainer performs a variety of duties related to planning, developing, and implementing customer and employee technology training programs and provides direct assistance with technology and the Library’s makerspace equipment.  The position provides notary and passport services as needed, and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required:   Bachelor’s degree.  Knowledge of customer interests related to Library materials, programs, and services.  Knowledge of training methods, principles, and best practices of learning for various populations and audiences.  Skill in customer service.  Skill in public speaking and delivering educational and informational presentations.  Ability to plan and conduct programs for Library customers.  Ability to accurately assess Library customer and employee training needs and plan and conduct programs accordingly.  Ability to help customers use personal and Library technology and equipment.  Ability to provide in-person and remote technical support.  Ability to become a passport agent and a public notary.  Knowledge of the principles of intellectual freedom as they apply to public libraries.  Ability to use a computer and job-related software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job, which may include, but not be limited to, email/calendar software, internet/intranet browsers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, and various systems of software used by Akron-Summit County Public Library.  A valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable personal transportation.  Pre-employment drug screening.  Criminal background and education verification checks. 

Preferred:  Master’s degree.  2 to 5 or more years of relevant experience.
