$10.10 per hour
General Duties:
- Sorts and returns library materials to their proper place on the shelves
- Lifts, bends, and climbs as associated with shelving routines
- Reads shelves for correctness of arrangement of materials
- Shifts shelves where necessary
- Moves Library material carts as needed
- Checks for missing and/or damaged materials
- Fills and routes holds
- Searches shelves for specific materials as assigned
- Performs simple clerical tasks, such as photocopying and labeling
- Assists with opening and closing routines, as needed
- Performs various tasks assigned by professional Library staff
- Maintains neatness in the public service areas
- Works at the service desk during employee meal or break periods, as needed
- Moves furniture and displays, as needed
- Assists with packing and unpacking delivery crates and other circulation duties, as needed
Requirements:
- Ability to arrange materials in alphabetical and numerical order.
- Skill in customer service.
- Knowledge of the principles of intellectual freedom as they apply to public libraries.
- Available to work between 8-20 hours per week, including evenings and Saturdays.
- Able to frequently bend, stoop, and stand; to lift light objects (less than 25 pounds) and carry them short distances (50 feet or less); and to push Library materials carts up to 200 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Work permit required for those under 18 years of age.
- Criminal background check required for those 18 years of age or older.

Applications are accepted at the Main Library's Administration reception desk on the 3rd floor from Monday - Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
If interested in working only at a branch library:
Applications are accepted at our 18 branch locations during regular branch hours to the branch location in which the applicant would like to work. Applicants will receive consideration for opportunities at the branch in which the application was returned. Applications may be submitted at several branches simultaneously.
In order to be considered for positions at both Main and branches, applications must be submitted at Main and at any branch location in which the applicant would like to work.
Shelvers who work 8 to 20 hours per week are not eligible for employee benefits except for participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
