Duties & Responsibilities:
The ASCPL is hiring a Security Systems Specialist to support our Mission Statement to provide resources for learning and leisure, information services, meeting spaces, and programs for all ages that support, improve, and enrich individual, family, and community life.
This position performs a variety of duties as related to the software and equipment systems in use by the Security Department and supports the overall physical security of the Library system’s employees, customers, and facilities by:
- Operating and coordinating the installation of alarm systems, equipment, and related software at all Library facilities.
- Maintaining the video surveillance system at Main Library and each branch.
- Participating in monitoring electronic or video surveillance systems and copying video to removable media.
- Overseeing employee access control software and tracking for key cards and hard keys at each Library facility, determining access levels for employees (in tandem with the Security Manager), and helping employees with such access.
- Producing electronic reports documenting entry/exit/access times.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting keyless access system, and maintaining logs for revisions and changes to access.
- Maintaining inventory of equipment necessary to reduce downtime for security systems and access control systems.
- Keeping systems current in technology level (in tandem with the Security Manager and Facilities Services Director).
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of facility and employee security principles and practices. Knowledge of fire alarm systems, access control systems, burglar alarm systems, and closed-circuit television systems operations. Ability to assess potential problem situations quickly and discreetly and effectively deescalate them without disruption of Library services to the public. Skill in customer service. Understanding of the principles of intellectual freedom. Ability to use a computer and job-related software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job. A valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable personal transportation. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, criminal background check, and education verification check.
Preferred: Associate’s degree. 2 to 5 or more years of related work experience.
