Akron-Summit County Public Library StoryWalks®

What is a StoryWalk®?

In 2007 Anne Ferguson developed the StoryWalk® project in collaboration with the Keller-Hubbard Library in Montpelier, Vermont. She wanted to create an activity for children and their caregivers that would promote early literacy, movement, and foster a connection to nature. A StoryWalk® is a self-directed activity for people of all ages to read an illustrated children’s book displayed in stages along a short outdoor trail. Since its inception StoryWalks® can be found in every state and throughout the world.

StoryWalk® and ASCPL

Currently the Akron-Summit County Library System has two permanent StoryWalk® trails located in Richfield and Bath. The trails gives the Library a unique opportunity to connect with and support our community beyond the walls of our buildings, and connect with nature. The StoryWalk® trails are free and open to the public during park hours.
