FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Akron, Ohio — The 2025 Akron Marathon will take place on Saturday, September 27, bringing thousands of runners and spectators to the city. To accommodate the event, a series of planned road closures will affect traffic patterns throughout Akron for most of the day.

As a result of these closures, two locations of the Akron-Summit County Public Library (ASCPL) will have delayed openings:

  • Highland Square Branch Library (West Market Street closure):
Will be open to the public from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

  • Main Library (High Street and Main Street closures):
Will be open to the public from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Community members are encouraged to plan ahead when traveling through Akron on race day. For help navigating road closures and detours, please refer to the marathon course map available at: https://www.akronmarathon.org/race-series/akron-marathon/

The Akron-Summit County Public Library appreciates the public’s understanding and support of this important community event.
