Downtown Akron--Akron-Summit County Public Library invites readers, writers, and book lovers of all ages to attend the fourth annual Akron Book Fest on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Main Library in downtown Akron.
This free, community-wide celebration will feature more than 75 authors, illustrators, and publishers showcasing, selling, and signing books. Whether you're a lifelong reader, an aspiring writer, or simply curious about the vibrant local literary scene, Akron Book Fest offers something for everyone.

Event Highlights

  • Meet Area Authors (11 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
    Explore a diverse selection of genres and connect directly with over 75 authors, illustrators, and publishers throughout the day.
  • Book Giveaway
    Visitors can select from a wide variety of advanced reader copies (ARCs) generously donated by publishers. Available while supplies last.
  • Children’s Activities
    The Children’s Library will host engaging book- and art-themed activities designed especially for young readers.

Panels & Workshops

Seating is first-come, first-served.

11 a.m. | Meeting Room 2AB: Things That Go Bump in the Plot. Featuring Gwendolyn Kiste, Tim Waggoner, Sarah Hans, and Maxwell Gold; moderated by E. F. Schraeder. Four horror writers discuss craft, resources, and techniques, answering questions about the art of writing horror fiction.

Noon | Meeting Room 2AB: Author Talk with Kate Sidley. Comedian and author Kate Sidley explores the strange and surprising stories behind some of the Catholic Church’s most famous saints, while sharing insights into her creative writing process.

Noon | Teen Area: Make Your Own Webcomic. With Khantal Tigner. An introductory session for aspiring creators interested in launching their own webcomic.

1 p.m. | Meeting Room 2AB: A Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words. With Chuck Ayers, Dave Szalay, Jenn Harney, and Eileen Ryan Ewen; moderated by Justin Eisinger. Illustrators discuss the power of visual storytelling and how imagery enhances and shapes narrative.

2 p.m. | Meeting Room 2AB: Content Marketing for Authors 101. With Zack Applewhite. A beginner-friendly presentation on building an audience and promoting creative work through smart, manageable content strategies.

2 p.m. | Children’s Library Programming Room: Storytime with Jashar Awan (Grades K–2). Enjoy a storytime, author talk, and interactive draw-along with author and illustrator Jashar Awan.
