The Special Collections Division houses the Library’s genealogy, local history and archival collections. The local history and archival materials we collect primarily focus on Summit County, Ohio.
Special Collections accepts donations of materials pertinent to the history of Summit County. We collect personal family materials, identified photographs, documents, papers, memorabilia and the records of Summit County-based organizations and businesses. Donations are accepted at the discretion of the Special Collections manager in keeping with our collections policy.
All donations require a signed Deed of Gift. Donated materials become property of the Akron-Summit County Public Library, subject to the terms of the Deed of Gift. Library staff may not give tax advice or provide appraisals. If it is determined that the Akron-Summit County Public Library is not the proper facility for your materials, we may be able to recommend a more appropriate facility.
