Natalie Lanese creates mind-bending geometric abstractions that toy with perception and perspective. In Mountain High, a group of skiers scale Lanese’s trademark zigzag patterns as if they are snow-covered mountain tops. Lanese often experiments with collage in her work, both appropriating found images and manipulating and collaging her own designs. Here, the collaged elements bring a sense of humor to the work. Lanese created a room size installation, covering the walls and floor of an Akron Art Museum gallery for the 2015 NEO Geo exhibition. She has created large scale murals in Cincinnati and Cleveland.
