Microbusiness Specialist

Location: Business & Government (Main Library)
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours), including evening and weekend hours (not job-share-eligible)
Salary: Grade 11, $19.96/hour


Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties supporting the Library’s services to microbusinesses and entrepreneurs, including but not limited to researching, marketing to and recruiting new and expanding entrepreneurial and microbusiness owners;  promoting and marketing the Microbusiness Center and services, developing and presenting trainings; finding training opportunities from external providers; collaborating with Library staff and outside organizations to support the efforts of entrepreneurial and microbusiness owners; advising and assisting customers with the selection and use of library materials and information; assisting customers in utilizing Library technology; developing web content that supports the Microbusiness Center and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Experience with and/or understanding/knowledge of entrepreneurship and business development;  an interest in and aptitude for working in a public library; willingness to learn professional library techniques; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a field related to small business development from an accredited university, or 5-10 years of applicable work experience are required; Master of Business Administration or related field, or MLIS with experience in business preferred; previous customer service experience required; previous library work experience preferred.
