Duties & Responsibilities:

The ASCPL is hiring a Microbusiness Specialist to support our Mission Statement to provide resources for learning and leisure, information services, meeting spaces, and programs for all ages that support, improve, and enrich individual, family, and community life.  

The Microbusiness Specialist performs a variety of duties supporting the Library’s services to microbusinesses and entrepreneurs; recruits new and expanding entrepreneurial and microbusiness owners for the Microbusiness Center; promotes and markets the Microbusiness Center and services, programs, and capabilities to internal and external audiences and customers; develops and presents trainings related to Library resources for microbusiness owners and entrepreneurs; finds appropriate training opportunities from external providers and schedules them at the Library; collaborates with other Library employees and outside organizations to support the efforts of entrepreneurial and microbusiness owners; advises and assists customers with the selection and use of Library materials and information; assists customers in using Library technology and offers instruction; develops web content that supports the Microbusiness Center; directs Microbusiness Center customers to the BGS division and other divisions, agencies, or resources for additional appropriate assistance; oversees the Microbusiness Center space, including submitting work orders for needed technology or facilities work; maintains knowledge and awareness of Library resources appropriate for microbusiness owners and entrepreneurs; assists with programming in the BGS division; performs standard Library routines, including circulation, delivery, and service desk duties; interprets the Library’s policies and procedures to the public in a customer-responsive manner; provides creative content for social media, marketing, or other Library platforms; and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required:  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.  Knowledge of entrepreneurship and business development principles.  Skill in customer service.  Skill in public speaking.  Ability to engage new audiences and promote Library services to all customers.  Ability to plan and conduct programs for Microbusiness Center customers.  Knowledge of the principles of intellectual freedom as they apply to public libraries.  Ability to use a computer and job-related software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job.  A valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable personal transportation.  Ability to pass criminal background and education verification checks.  Ability to lift light objects (less than 25 pounds) and carry them short distances (50 feet or less)

Preferred:  Master’s degree.  5 to 7 or more years of relevant experience.
