Graphic Designer

Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours), including evenings and weekend hours - Not job-share eligible
Salary: Grade 9, $17.46/hour (Non-Exempt)


Performs a variety of duties related to the layout, design, and preparation of promotional artwork.  Creates, designs, and prepares marketing publications and promotion materials, including but not limited to flyers, posters, bookmarks, rack cards, brochures, Library forms, special exhibits, certificates and banners, logos, signage, print and online advertisements, and digital displays.  Power-Point presentations, and interactive marketing, designs and prepares layouts for a variety of Library publications; and creatively photographs Library events.  

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices in the field of graphic arts; demonstrated visual creativity; demonstrated knowledge of computer graphics; effective record-keeping techniques; ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers other Library agency staff and customers; strong organizational skills including the ability to juggle multiple priorities; demonstrated written and verbal communication skills; and ability to follow written and verbal direction.  Work is technical in nature and requires the use of a PC, and related graphic art software.  Work requires initiative, independent thinking, creativity, attention to detail, accuracy and ability to meet deadlines through collaboration with others.  Knowledge of RSS feed; HTML; and understanding of web design, development, and production of web sites desired.  Previous graphics arts experience; with proficiency in Microsoft Office products; Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, and Adobe Creative Suite software required.  Two years of college required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred from an accredited college of design preferred.
