Duties & Responsibilities:

The ASCPL is hiring two (2) Accounting Assistants to support our Mission Statement to provide resources for learning and leisure, information services, meeting spaces, and programs for all ages that support, improve, and enrich individual, family, and community life.

This position performs a variety of general accounting support and clerical duties, recordkeeping, and PC-related routines, including, but not limited to, processing vendor invoices; preparing vouchers, invoices, remittances and other related materials for the receipt and disbursement of funds; researching and resolving vendor questions/payment issues; reviewing and posting a variety of accounting transactions to ledgers, journals or cash books; processing payment requisitions and purchase orders; working closely with internal departments to resolve purchasing and accounts payable questions; generating and verifying a variety of expense and budget reports; maintaining the vendor master file; helping process payroll; filing and recordkeeping; collecting and depositing monies; answering departmental phones; processing and distributing departmental mail; operating a variety of standard office machinery; ordering and maintaining office supplies; assisting departmental visitors; and completing other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required:  High school diploma or equivalent.  Knowledge of routine office procedures and common bookkeeping practices.  Skill in customer service.  Ability to manage confidential information.  Ability to problem-solve and think independently.  Understanding of the principles of intellectual freedom.  Ability to use a computer and various software applications such as email/calendar, internet browsers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software.  Ability to process high volume of transactions with low error rate.  Ability to create reports from data collected from various software packages.  Ability to lift light objects (less than 25 pounds) and carry them short distances (50 feet or less).  Ability to pass criminal background and education verification checks.

Preferred:  Associate’s degree.  Two (2) or more years of experience in governmental bookkeeping/accounting.
