Description
This portrait by Connecticut portrait painter, Ralph Earl depicts Mary Tallmadge and her children Henry Floyd Tallmadge and Maria Jones Tallmadge. Born Mary Floyd in Mastic, Long Island, she married Benjamin Tallmadge, original landholder of what would become Tallmadge, Ohio on March 6, 1784. Together they had seven children. Mary died in childbirth in 1805. Three years later Tallmadge married Maria Hallett.
