Duties & Responsibilities:

The ASCPL is hiring a Marketing Communications Director to support our Mission Statement to provide resources for learning and leisure, information services, meeting spaces, and programs for all ages that support, improve, and enrich individual, family, and community life.

The Marketing Communications Director leads a team of five employees and provides direction, coaching, training, and development to meet organization goals and expectations.  The role serves as a key member of management and understands the organization and its financials, industry, customers, and strategy.  The Director uses that knowledge to plan and direct communication; develop promotional ideas and materials; oversee the writing, editing, and production of Library publications, graphic designs, and digital content related to marketing communications; provide effective marketing and public relations services to all agencies; and function in an advisory capacity in matters relating to the marketing of Library programs and services and relating to crisis communications. 

As a leader, the role acts as ex-officio member of the Marketing Communications and Library Services Committee of the Board of Trustees; serves as a key advisor to the Executive Director and Administrative team by providing strategic leadership with marketing management; and participates in decision-making and planning as a member of the Library’s Administrative and Directors teams.

Serves as a Library spokesperson.  Represents the Library in local and regional community organizations and professional associations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.  At least 5 years of relevant experience.  At least 2 years of supervisory experience.  Knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing, communications, and public relations.  Skill in public speaking.  Skill in community relations.  Skill in customer service principles, practices, and programs.  Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies and plans.  Ability to plan, implement, and manage change within the agency, division, and/or organization.  Knowledge of the principles of intellectual freedom as they apply to public libraries.  Ability to use a computer and job-related software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job.  A valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable personal transportation.  Ability to pass criminal background and education verification checks.  Ability to lifting light objects (less than 25 pounds) and carry them short distances (50 feet or less).

Preferred: Master’s degree.  Relevant marketing certification.  10 or more years of relevant experience.  5 or more years of supervisory experience.
