Renewals

Frequency:
Most* items may be renewed twice (unless there is a hold on the item).

Renew items in any of the following ways:
In-person at the circulation desk of any branch or Main Library.

• To renew using the Online Catalog:

  1. Connect to the catalog from http://hip.akronlibrary.org
  2. Select the My Account tab from the top of the window.
  3. Enter the barcode number from the back of your library card (use only the numbers located below the barcode). Note: For a shortcut, you can type the numbers that follow the zero(s) in the middle of the barcode to the end.
  4. Enter the last four digits of your phone number.
  5. Click the "Login" button at the bottom of the window.
  6. You will see an overview of the activity on your account.
  7. Select the Checked Out option from the blue navigation bar at the top of the window.
  8. Select the item (or items) you wish to renew from this listing by placing a checkmark in the small box to the left of the item.
     
  9. Click on the Renew button at the bottom or bottom of the window.
     
  10. The screen will be refreshed with the new due dates for items which were renewed.
  11. You will be given an alert message if any items could not be renewed

Not Renewable:
Books In Boxes, Fiction Videos, Fiction DVDs, Inter-Library Loans, Vacation/Teacher Loans, items that have received a fine notice, and Reference special loans cannot be renewed.
