Programs and Services
For over 100 years, the Akron-Summit County Public Library has provided free library service to the residents of Summit County. The holdings of the entire system are available to you through the branch libraries through:
- Daily delivery service from Main Library. If you do not find what you want at your branch, ask a staff member to request it for you from Main Library, another branch library, or from any library in the country through inter-library loan.
- Access from your home, school, or office computer to the catalog of the Akron-Summit County Public Library.
- Hold service. If a title is unavailable, you may place a hold yourself, or ask a library staff member to assist you. As soon as the title you have requested is returned, you will be notified that it is waiting for you.
Each branch library provides a variety of programs and services:
- Baby and pre-school story times as well as after school and summer programs for children in grades K-6.
- Beginning in Summer 1997, a community summer reading program for all ages
- Reference and Readers Advisory Service performed by professional librarians
- Meeting rooms for use by non-profit organizations
- Photocopiers at minimal charge
- Fax service for quick transmittal of library materials.
- Book discussions, tax aide through AARP, informational programs, and tutorial sessions for adult new readers conducted by Project: LEARN are available at many branches.
- Voter registration service.
- Golden Buckeye card registration.
- Magnifiers to aid those who need assistance in reading small type.
