Library service to the Northfield area began with the bookmobile in 1946. In August of 1955, the Akron Public Library signed an agreement with the Northfield Community Library then housed in Palmer House to provide library service to the area. The original Northfield Branch opened at its present location in 1964. In September, 1990, the name was changed to Nordonia Hills Branch to reflect the areas served by the library - Northfield Center, Northfield Village, Sagamore Hills and Macedonia. At that time the 5,500 square foot building cost $183,187.64 for site, building and furnishings.
Current library statistics show that Nordonia Hills Branch circulated 268,511 items in 2008, and houses a collection of 69,931 items.
We are open 6 days a week to meet your needs for education, information and recreation.
