The History & Humanities Division offers a vast cornucopia of subjects including:

Art and Architecture
Are you curious about an artist or interested in learning the techniques of watercolor painting? We have a large collection of art books ranging from Pre-Raphaelite to contemporary, and everything in between.

Looking for ideas for your dream home? We have an extensive collection on all types of homes and floor plans, as well as a bevy of books on landscaping.

Education
Come and select a book from our large collection of education materials. The College Planning Collection is one of our busiest areas. It includes study guides to help you prepare for the ACT/SAT or GRE, financial aid resources plus titles on selecting a college, writing the application essay and choosing a major.

The Family Literacy Collection includes study guides for the GED and TOEFL plus materials for adult new readers and English-as-a-second- language students.

If you are home schooling, the library provides workshops and materials including books, web sites and local resources.

Etiquette and Protocol
Today’s global market requires an understanding of world cultures and business practices in foreign countries. We can guide you to basic background information about countries and the correct way to address people in official or titled positions.

Are you planning a wedding or hosting a gala event? We can answer your questions about behavior in polite society or wedding trends for the 21 st century.

Grants and Charities
In 2006, the Library joined over 250 Cooperating Collections of the Foundation Center , headquartered in New York City.

Our electronic resources include: FC Search and Foundation Grants to Individuals. Our trained staff is available to assist you, and regularly scheduled orientations and workshops are provided.

Language, Literature and Poetry Studies
Are you wondering about that poem you once had memorized but now can remember only a few lines? We will help you locate it so you can read it in its entirety.

Literature lovers will find thousands of books to browse from American poetry to Shakespeare, from plays to literary criticism, from monologues to speeches.

Writers, we can help you discover where to put your commas and our dictionaries will help you with word definitions and word origins.

If you are interested in learning a foreign language, we can help you get started with a dictionary, phrase book or a book with a CD-ROM.

History
Are you looking for the latest book about the President, or reading about World War II and want to consult a historical atlas? Come and browse our recent Book Shelf or the atlas collection.

Information concerning the civil rights movement is housed in the Martin Luther King Collection.

Religion
We have books on world religions, mythology, Bible studies, and Buddhist and Jewish traditions. We can also help you locate a prayer, write a sermon, or find materials on how to start a church.

Looking for a current popular religious author? We have T.D. Jakes, Joyce Meyer, and Juanita Bynum among others: information about your spirituality, saving your marriage, and raising your children.

And if you’re worried about Armageddon – we have books on that subject too.

Social Issues
Do you need help with a family concern? Use our electronic resources and print materials to examine an issue from multiple perspectives or locate local information related to alcoholism, crime, child welfare, eldercare, poverty and more.
