Nonprofit Resources Center (formerly Grants Center)

The Akron-Summit County Public Library is a member of a network of over 250 Cooperating Collections of the Foundation Center, New York. Through the core collection provided by the Foundation Center, the Library offers free access to necessary information and services to assist you in grant seeking and funding for your nonprofit organization.

Foundation Directory Online, Professional
FDO is the nations’ premier grantseeking database. Updated weekly, with nearly 90,000 detailed funder profiles and more than 900,000 recently awarded grants, this powerful tool enables you to be a savvy and proactive competitor in your search for funding.
Foundation Grants to Individuals Online
Updated quarterly, this efficient database allows you to search detailed descriptions of more than 6,100 foundations that fund students, artists, researchers and other individuals. Available at Main Library only at http://gtionline.fdncenter.org/ipl.php

Foundation Directory
For those more comfortable with print, this annual two-volume publication offers information on 10,000 of the nation’s largest foundations by total giving dollars. For ease of use, it includes geographic, subject and type of support indexes.
Guide to U.S. Foundations, Their Trustees, Officers and Donors
This 3-volume set includes a master list of the people who establish, oversee and manage nearly 70,000 foundations – a powerful tool to assist in the necessary relationship-building that comes with successful proposals.
National Directory of Corporate Giving
A directory that provides the most current information available in print, this volume offers background on more than 4,000 company-sponsored foundations and corporate direct giving programs as well as more than 7,800 recently awarded grants.

These are just a few of the sources available at the Nonprofit Resources Center in the History & Humanities Division, on the third floor of Main Library. A trained staff is available to assist you.
