Divorce and child custody laws differ from state to state. There is no one uniform law. In addition, court procedures and rules for getting a divorce also vary from state to state. The following divorce sources should not take the place of an attorney licensed to practice law. Use these sources only as general guides.

Library staff members are not lawyers and, therefore, cannot provide legal advice or any interpretation of the law. According to the Akron-Summit County Public Library's Legal Reference Policy, "Although staff members will be as helpful as possible in locating and providing necessary legal materials, it is the responsibility of the patron to determine what the law means."

Association for Children for Enforcement of Support
http://www.childsupport-aces.org: Founded in Toledo, Ohio in 1984, ACES is a non-profit organization focusing on improving child support enforcement.
Ohio Office of Child Support
http://jfs.ohio.gov/Ocs: A division of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the Ohio Office of Child Support provides a network of services dedicated to maintaining a child's right to financial support.
Summit County Child Support Enforcement Agency
http://www.co.summit.oh.us/prosecutor/childsupp.htm: A division of the Summit County Prosecutor's Office, the Summit County Child Support Enforcement Agency provides collection and disbursement of child support payments, modification of support, establishment of paternity, and location of noncustodial parent.

Akron Victim Assistance
http://www.victimassistanceprogram.org/: A free, confidential, assistance service for victims of crime. Victim Assistance services include family and personal counseling, emergency food, crisis intervention, and victim reparation.
Ohio Domestic Violence Network
http://www.odvn.org: A network of organizations and individuals devoted to provide education, information, and services for battered persons. The Ohio Domestic Violence Network includes a toll-free, 24-hour information line to help you find services in your area: 1-800-934-9840.
Summit County Victim Services
http://www.co.summit.oh.us/prosecutor/victimsrvcs.htm: Developed to provide assistance and information to victims of crime. Victim Services provide emergency transportation to court, case status information, and referral to the Ohio Victims of Crime Compensation Program.
