Goodyear Branch Library is accessible from State Route 8 at the Perkins St. exit to Union St. to East Market Street to Goodyear Blvd. It is also accessible from Interstate 76 at the Kelly Ave. exit, north on Kelly, west on Goodyear Blvd.
The orignal building (known as East Branch Library) first opened in 1922 in a rented room in the Goodyear Club House. In 1939 it became the first branch library of the Akron Public Library to occupy a building designed, built, furnished and owned by the library system. The building cost $45,000. Current library statistics indicate that Goodyear Branch has 7,234 registered borrowers, circulated 142,551 items in 2008, and has a collection of 57,529 items. We are open 6 days a week to meet your needs for education, information and recreation. Our friendly, skilled staff includes a branch manager who is also the adult services librarian, a children’s librarian who serves intermediate school age children and teens (grades 4-12), and a children's librarian who serves young children (babies through grade three) and their families.
