Salary: Grade 11, $19.76/hour
Performs original and copy cataloging of print and non-print monograph and serial records using Dewey, MARC, AACRII, RDA, OCLC, LCSH, in III Sierra and OCLC Connexion; assigns call numbers and subject headings; provides name and title access points; determines information for bibliographic description; assigns MARC tags and codes; maintains quality control of records in the library’s catalog; provides authority control in the Sierra system by establishing and/or verifying correct Library of Congress subject, name, series and genre headings and appropriate references; and in conjunction with the other cataloging librarians and supervisor, trains para-professionals and establishes workflow; and assists with special projects. Other duties as assigned.
At least three credit hours of coursework in cataloging or equivalent experience; a Master of Library and Information Science degree issued by an ALA-accredited school of library and information science; knowledge or experience in original and copy cataloging of a variety of materials, including batch loading and editing electronic and A/V resources. Experience performing of original cataloging of AV materials and archival materials preferred; NACO experience preferred. MarcEdit experience preferred. Applicants within 6 credit hours or less toward completion of an M.L.I.S. degree will also be considered under certain conditions. Individuals hired under these conditions will begin as a Public Service Assistant lll, Grade 10, Step 1, ($19.23/hr), and upon confirmation of completion of the M.L.I.S. degree will be moved to Librarian, Grade 11, Step 1, ($19.76/hr).
