Inspired by literature, music and her environment, printmaker Joan Colbert often creates works that are thematic in nature. In Get Back, Jack! Colbert depicts a scene from the fairytale Jack and the Beanstalk moments before Jack steals a goose that lays golden eggs from a giant who lives in a castle at the top of a beanstalk. This work originally started out as part of a larger piece called Commodity Traders, which included a murder of crows gathered to scoop up the scraps falling from the nest depicted in this print.
