June 23-27, Hardesty Park, Akron Ohio 6:30 pm Musical performance 7:30 pm Scholar presentation

Akron was selected by Ohio Humanities as one of four Ohio cities to host its 17th annual Ohio Chautauqua. On five consecutive nights professional actors will assume the identity of a historical figure to present a one-person show, followed by interaction with the audience.

Each day, the actors will hold workshops at Main Library for children and for adults, focusing on the figure or the time period in which he or she lived: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Henry David Thoreau, Indian captive Olive Ann Oatman, Gold Rush topographer J. Goldsborough Bruff and Edith Russell, a Titanic survivor. Each evening presentation will be preceded by a musical performance. Co-sponsored by the Akron-Summit County Public Library and the Summit County Historical Society. With support from the City of Akron, County of Summit, Akron Convention and Visitor’s Bureau* (*as of February 2015)
