Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours)
Salary: Grade 6, $13.86 hour, Non-Exempt


Performs a variety of duties associated with the acquisition and cataloging of library materials. Acquisitions duties may include: receiving and payment of library materials; reconciling invoices and credits with materials received, return of defective materials and vendor relations; Copy cataloging includes: searching Sierra for matching bibliographic records, searching OCLC and selecting, editing and importing complete descriptive bibliographic records into Sierra to overlay existing brief bibliographic records used for ordering purposes; modifying records in Sierra  to meet ASCPL standards and cataloging rules (assigning call numbers and BISAC headings; checking name authorities, adding uniform titles, additional subject headings and series tracings.  Ensuring that each completed catalog record is readily searchable and places the cataloged item in a findable shelf location), merging catalog records and downloading and editing those records according to cataloging rules; assisting the Acquisitions Specialist as requested; and performing other duties and special projects as assigned.  Adheres to ASCPL customer service standards.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proven PC skills, including Windows and MS Office; clerical aptitude; detail-oriented and accurate; medium-level problem-solving skills; good verbal and written communication skills; the ability to push library book carts loaded with materials; completion of a standard high school education or equivalent, with two years of college required; possession of bachelor’s degree preferred, and previous library technical services experience with demonstrated knowledge of RDA, AARCII, Dewey, MARC, OCLC, and LCSH practices preferred.
