Security Manager

Hours: Full-Time (40 hours), including evening and Saturday and Sunday hours, not job-share eligible 
Salary: Grade 15, $28.63/hour

Responsibilities:

Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of duties as related to the overall physical security of the Library system’s staff, customers, and facilities including, but not limited to, writing security procedures, policies  and evacuation plans; training, orienting and communicating with Library staff regarding security issues, regulations, practices and procedures; developing training programs and training security officers; serving as liaison with law enforcement authorities and Library’s property insurance provider for customer’s claims; working as a liaison with local police departments to schedule officers as needed for events and added security; representing the Library at court hearings regarding customer complaints/injuries;  acting as first-staff responder to after-hours security and fire alarm incidents; operating and coordinating the installation of alarm systems and serving as primary contact for alarm systems; investigating and maintaining records of incidents; negotiating contracts and scheduling with security-related vendors; conducting security assessments and coordinating security programs system-wide; managing customer suspensions and banishments; overseeing staff access control software; interviewing, hiring, scheduling, supervising and evaluating work of security staff; scheduling contract security officers; and serving in security officer capacity when needed; other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated ability to train and direct the work of others; demonstrated ability for independent thinking and decision-making; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; ability to speak and write effectively; demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products; good physical condition; possession of a valid Ohio Driver’s license or the ability to obtain one; demonstrated knowledge of fire alarm systems, access control systems, security burglar alarm systems and closed circuit television systems; a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement from an accredited university or graduation from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy or equivalent combination of related coursework and significant work experience in the field of security management required; previous supervisory experience preferred.
