Federal Depository Library Program

Federal Government information is made available for free public use in Federal depository libraries located throughout the United States and its territories. FDLP materials are disseminated to these nationwide libraries that, in turn, ensure the public has free access to them, both in print and online. Anyone can visit and access the Akron-Summit County Public Library collection through our Business & Government division, located on the third floor of Main Library.

Whether you are searching for your first job or your next job....it can be overwhelming. Having helpful information available makes the whole experience less stressful. Non-Profit Resource Center

The Akron-Summit County Public Library is a member of a network of Cooperating Collections of the Foundation Center. Through the core collection, provided by the Foundation Center, the Library offers free access to information and services to assist you in grant seeking and funding.

Patent & Trademark Resource Center

The Library was named a Patent & Trademark Depository Library in 1995 and recently has been renamed a Patent & Trademark Resource Center. We offer access to resources from the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) in a variety of formats. Our USPTO-trained librarians can get you started in your preliminary patent search, and guide you to the resources to help you launch a successful business venture.

Project Learn

Project Learn provides Summit County residents with the opportunity to achieve their educational goals by participating in free literacy, GED, college prep and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes and tutoring. By increasing literacy, community members not only improve their lives and the lives of their families but also strengthen and improve our community.

Project Learn of Summit County is committed to providing a learning environment where community members can support one another, learn together and grow into lifelong learners. Project Learn is committed to assisting community members in improving their lives through literacy.

Project Learn provides life-changing opportunities for many people who are on society’s margins. For most, our programs are their last and only opportunity to gain the basic skills that are essential for survival in the 21st Century. Project Learn is is an independent agency housed in Main Library.

RECE Lab - Resources for Early Childhood Educators

Resources for Early Childhood Educators provides a lab at Main Library and collections of teacher resources housed at all 18 branches and Main Library for teachers to borrow. The lab houses machines and other basic equipment for use along with materials for a small charge.

Summit Memory

Digital collections of historic Summit County images and documents, produced in collaboration with our partner institutions. Collections include our general photograph collection, digitized atlases of Akron and Summit County, newspaper clippings about local rubber companies, and postcard collections containing hundreds of images of Summit County landmarks. Discover our past and watch us grow for the future!
