Description
The Northeast district school began teaching vocal music in 1871. It was the only school to have musical instruction until 1902, when Stella Sackett began teaching music at the Center graded school, which also housed the first high school classes. The Tallmadge School Orchestra pictured above was directed by A.W. Silverstein.
