Description
About 1890 Thomas Rhymes, with his wife Pauline began planting lettuce and cabbage to sell in nearby Akron. With their increasing success, they expanded their offerings to include plants and flowers. Their eight large greenhouses can be seen in the background of this image. Mr. Rhymes died in 1929 and Mrs. Rhymes later sold the business. She died in 1954 and both are buried in Old Tallmadge Cemetery.
