Description
Henry Bierce began taking orders for feed and grain, then added coal. Realizing it was time-consuming to determine the weight of a wagonload of product using the platform scales in Charles Conaghan’s store, Henry built platform scales and a scales house. This was called “The Shanty”. Pictured here in 1911 are Mary and Kitty Thomas and Mrs. Braden in the back row with Sara Thomas and Verna Braden in front.
