Description
In 1886, Charles C. Conaghan and Frank E. Hine bought the grocery and meat business of Carter & Wright. When Mr. Hine died in 1892, Mr. Conaghan bought his partner’s share of the business which he operated until his unfortunate death in 1913. On July 1 of that year, he was driving his team to Akron; hard of hearing, he was unaware of an approaching train at Wuchter’s crossing (where Evans Ave. crosses the tracks). He was killed when a train struck his wagon on the crossing.
