Tallmadge History Digital Exhibit
Description
This photograph shows Tallmadge historian Frank Ellsworth Lawrence examining an old milk bottle from the Maple Grove Dairy of Tallmadge, Ohio. An avid local historian, Mr. Lawrence served as the President of the Tallmadge Historical Society for fourteen years and authored About Old Tallmadge, a history of the community. He was designated in 1982 as the Honorary Historian of the City of Tallmadge and received in 1989, a Community Citizen Award. For more than fifty years he amassed a large collection of historical materials pertaining to the history of Tallmadge. This collection, consisting of original documents, letters, journals, newspapers, and photographs was donated in 1991 to the Tallmadge Branch Library. In 1994 the Frank E. Lawrence Collection was made available to researchers. Mr. Lawrence died in 1995 at the age of 101.
