Description
Music played an important role in early Tallmadge. The first local band formed in 1817, and was led by Nathaniel Bettes. The group pictured here, the Pioneer Orchestra or as they referred to themselves, the Pioneer Band performed at picnics and pioneer meetings. From left to right, the members are: seated – [unknown, left], Henry w. Bill, middle; Charles C. Bronson, right; standing – Dr. Amos Wright, left; [unknown,2nd from left]; K. H. Devin, 3rd from left; William H. Bronson, son of Charles C., right.
