Description
This detailed map provides an interesting glimpse into the bustling village of Tallmadge just prior to the start of the Civil War. As is still true today, the only two structures on the circle in the center of town are the Congregational Church and the Town Hall. Also of interest is the location of the coal banks on the west side of the settlement and the Tallmadge Coal Co. Rail Road constructed to carry the mined ore to the Ohio Canal for shipment both north and south.
