Description
The first Atlantic and Great Western train passed through Tallmadge Center on May 26, 1863. Once the transition was made to the New York, Pennsylvania & Ohio line in about 1890, passenger business boomed with ticket sales amounting to $15,000 a year. As more Tallmadge residents acquired automobiles, rail passenger traffic decreased until no trains made scheduled stops here.
