Description
The rear portion of this house, dating to 1827, was built by Milo Stone. Sidney Barnes purchased the homestead from Nelson Stone, grandson of its founder. Sidney Barnes’ son, Reverend Howard Barnes, settled in the family homestead after retiring from the ministry.  Rev. Barnes was Pastor Emeritus of the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge from 1945 to 1962, and served as head of the Edinburg and Tallmadge schools. An additional wing, a porch, and new siding were added over the years. The main part of the house, built in 1833, remains intact.
