Description
This house at 340 Southwest Avenue was built by Sam J. Ritchie around 1850. Sam Ritchie was the father of Charles Edward Ritchie – first mayor of Tallmadge Village. Sam Ritchie was a partner in the carriage manufacturing business with William Oviatt and later established a sewer pipe factory with Ira Sperry and Dr. Willis Sperry. The building has housed rest home facilities in recent years.
