Library History Digital Exhibit
Description
According to the 1945 Annual Report of the Akron Public Library, "the library is far more than an agency for the distribution of books and information - it is a dynamic educational institution dedicated to the raising of standards of all such activities throughout the community." In that year the Library established the Group Services Department. This department helped community groups with program planning as well as advising them about library resources. The Library continues to serve and collaborate with community groups through programs, library services, and by providing meeting space at Main Library and all branches.
