Description
An Akron City ordinance establishing the first free public library for Akron was passed on January 26, 1874. A Board of Control was established consisting of two members of the Library Association, one member of the Board of Education, and two members of City Council. On February 24, 1874, the Board of Control held their first meeting. Present were John R. Buchtel, Edwin P. Green, Milton W. Henry, J. Park Alexander, and George Ford. This page is from a ledger that includes minutes from 1874 to 1894.
