Description
The Bath Library was established in 1964 in a house on Ira Road. It was operated jointly by the Akron Public Library and the Bath Library Board. The board had lobbied successfully to obtain a legal ruling that would give the community of Bath a portion of the intangibles tax to help fund the construction of a new building. The Bath Library occupied the building on Ira Road until concern regarding the safety of the building forced operations to move to Bath Elementary School. The Branch operated from the school until the new McDowell Branch was constructed in 1971 and that branch was subsequently replaced with the Fairlawn-Bath Branch.
