Daily Life in Tallmadge

The lives of early Tallmadge residents were shaped by a number of things. Daily rhythms were dictated by family responsibilities, school, church, and community. Since most of the early residents were farmers, weather and the changing seasons were also factors.  Wars, and other events of the time also had a great impact on their lives; time was always found for leisure pursuits, however. Holidays, sports, and community events were celebrated by the earliest residents of Tallmadge as they are today.  The daily lives of these early residents have been documented in a number of ways including photographs, diaries and annual accounts prepared by the Tallmadge Historical Society since the year 1858.
