On May 1, 1907, the inhabitants of Tallmadge celebrated the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of the township. The town center was the hub of activity; in the Town Hall, more than 500 artifacts were on display – including the rocking chair in which Mrs. Bacon sat when she rode to Tallmadge in 1807. Music, food, and speeches filled the day with all present joining in the singing of “America” at the close of the festivities. See some of the Akron Beacon Journal's coverage of the events here.
