Description
In 1969, the community of Norton launched a fundraising effort to secure funds to establish a library. The new branch, a cooperative project of the Akron Public Library, the City of Norton, and the Norton Library Association opened at the corner of Cleveland-Massillon Road and Oak Street. Although an addition was constructed in 1972, it soon became clear that a larger facility was needed. In May of 1988, the current Norton Branch Library building was dedicated, the first branch built since the construction of the McDowell Branch in 1971.
