Description
Portage Lakes is comprised of a series of natural lakes and made-made reservoirs created to supply water to the Ohio & Erie Canal. As this postcard shows, Cormany's Landing was a popular recreation spot in the 1920s and 1930s. Situated on Long Lake, a 180 acre natural lake, it offered swimming, boat rentals and a dance pavillion. Although the Landing closed in 1940, Long Lake is still a popular summer time destination.
