Description
The Soap Box Derby championships have been held in Akron since 1935. The Derby Downs, a permanent race track, was built for the Soap Box Derby by the Works Progression Administration in the late 1930s. Each year, after winning in their home communities, youngsters from all over the world come to Akron with the racers they have built to compete for the championship.
