Description
The statue, nicknamed Unk, stands six feet high and weighs 275lbs. It was erected in 1905 on the corner of Portage Path and W. Market St. to mark the trail Native Americans used as a portage from the Cuyahoga River to the Tuscarawas River. Moved across W. Market St., the metal over concrete statue now stands on a granite base with a bronze plaque reading "A Point on the Portage Path or Indian Trail, until 1789 a part of the western boundary of the United States, erected July 4, 1905 by G. F. Kasch."
